Public Act 095-0821 Criminal Child Sex Offender
HB4402 was signed by the governor on August 14 and became effective immediately. A summary of it's changes is that the act prohibits a child sex offender from offering services in a private residence and it also prohibits a child sex offender from living within 500 feet of a day care home or group day care home. Public Act 095-0846 Juvenile Court - minor - counsel
SB2118 Amends the Juvenile Court Act of 1987. Provides that immediately upon the filing of a petition for a detention or shelter care hearing in the case of a minor retained in custody, the court shall cause counsel to be appointed to represent the minor. Provides that a detention or shelter care hearing may not be held until the minor has had adequate opportunity to consult with counsel. Click the link below to view the full act.
Public Act 096-0199 Gang Recruitment of Minors
Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Creates the offense of criminal street gang recruitment of a minor. Provides that a person commits the offense when he or she threatens the use of physical force to coerce, solicit, recruit, or induce another person to join or remain a member of a criminal street gang, or conspires to do so, whether or not such threat is communicated in person, by means of the Internet, or by means of a telecommunications device. Public Act 096-0262 Sex Offenders - No social networking
Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that it is a Class 4 felony for a person required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration Act to access or use a social networking website during the period for which the sex offender is required to register under that Act. Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Requires as a condition of parole, mandatory supervised release, probation, conditional discharge, or supervision that a sex offender refrain from accessing or using a social networking website.
